The Competition
WIRED Robotics participates in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition. FIRST is an international program that inspires students to engage in science, technology, engineering, and math in a way that is exciting and fun.
Known as a “Sport for the Mind,” FRC challenges teams of high school students to design, build, and program robots under a time constraint of six weeks to perform specific tasks and compete in regional events. The goal of the program is to provide students a hands-on learning experience collaborating with mentors and peers in engineering fields.
FRC goes beyond just building a robot. The program inspires the next generation of engineers and entrepreneurs while imparting life skills such as leadership, cooperation, and gracious professionalism.
About Our Team
WIRED began in 2016, competing in VEX Robotics, but switched to FRC in the 2021-2022 season. Our team is a group of approximately 20 highly motivated students and 8 mentors located in Waupaca, WI.
While we a relatively new team, we continue to learn new skills and inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators.
Interested Students
WIRED is a student organization that meets year round with plenty of opportunities to participate. No experience is required to start, you just need an interest in: mechanical design, fabrication, electrical, programming, business, graphic design, or marketing!
Meetings are weekly on Wednesdays after school at 2:30 during pre-season (September-December). During the 6 week build season (January/February), the robotics room is open every day after school at 3:30 to work on the robot.
Parents & Mentors
We need PARENTS and Community Members to assist our students. With so many students participating in robotics, we need community support to keep the program going!
