WMS FLL Lego Robotics

Our Middle School has the FIRST Lego League Challenge competition for students in Grades 6-8. Students in 5th grade can learn about Robotics as well, to prepare for the competitive season.

This was done through the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE Challenge. Find out more about the challenge here:

Currently, we have 4 teams Registered with FIRST.

Teams can have a MAXIMUM of 10 members at competitions, but it tends to work well with smaller, more focused groups.

Students wanting to participate, need to apply by June 6th, or contact [email protected] to enquire if space available.

Middle School Grades 6-8

  • The 6th-8th grade runs from August through February. There is a summer program to help prepare students for the season.
  • During the season, they meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:15-5:15.
  • The 6th-8th grade team participates in the First Robotics Lego League Challenge, a fun way to learn and experience computer science!
  • This program is Lego based and focuses on Lego Robotics! It’s a great beginning to a future in engineering and the expectations of High School robotics.

Middle School Grade 5

  • Meetings happen every Tuesday from  3:30 to 5:00. Very low stress, because they don’t compete in competitions. Just building lego robotics, chilling out. The season runs January through May. Students compete in a modified version of the First Robotics Lego League Challenge.
  • They compete against each other by building lego robots using coding, building, and problem solving. A wonderful way to start your robotics journey and learn all about STEM.

How can you help?

We need PARENTS & Community Members! With as many kids that are coming out for robotics, we need our parents to help our teams out!

  • We need local experts in our community for our students to talk to about their Innovation projects. These topics vary, but they might just need a person to discuss their ideas with!
  • Be a volunteer coach! You don’t need to know a lot about ‘robot things’ to be a Robotics coach! Most of the time, it is about keeping kids organized and moving forward!
  • Don’t think you have time for a commitment? Reach out, and we might be able to find a role that suits your timeframe!
